Story
When visionary architect Laszlo Toth and his wife Erzebeth flee post-war Europe in 1947 to restore their heritage and witness the birth of modern America, their lives are changed forever by a mysterious and wealthy client. Brutalist: The Brutalist is a picture that comes to life on screen. From the subtle yet highly effective and powerful sound design and score. Not to mention the stunning cinematography, every frame comes to life before your eyes. I cannot speak highly enough of Brady Corbett and his vision. Since it is an original screenplay, it really proves how the film industry should be run.
Such a deep and powerful story
Brutalist is a grounded story that took me emotionally to places I wasn’t ready to go. I’m glad this movie is 3 hours and 35 minutes long because it has the right to take its time to tell the story. And that’s 3 and a half hours of pure cinema experience. I sat there in pure awe of each scene. This is how a movie is made.
Adrien Brody holds an acting masterclass
To acting. He can witness everything, the scenes of crying and shouting, the delicate moments and gestures, his look. It’s so massive in the film that I don’t think I’ve seen a performance of this level in a while. Guy Pearce is absolutely fascinating, at times downright terrifying. Felicity Jones comes into the story later than I would have imagined but she totally holds her own, she is a real beauty to watch.
Brady Corbett is a visionary genius and I look forward to seeing many more of his projects
